In preparation for the holiday season Reality Learning SA, based in Strand and managed by Bernadette Duddy and her team, donated their time and knowledge to educate some of the Sir Lowry’s Pass residents on the lifelong effects of alcohol on an unborn child.

It was a very informative day filled with material that was easily understood, and it equipped students with the knowledge to share with the village youth and pregnant mommies regarding the impact on the foetus (baby) of drinking alcohol while pregnant.

This was done through simulation, discussion and games on preventing Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).

Although there was a strong female presence in the session, a gentleman also attended the course and expressed how informative and important the training was for him.

“We can see the positive effects of the information that is flooding the village and preventing Foetal Alcohol Syndrome babies,” reads a statement from the SLP Village Collaboration.

“From this class a support group was formed by one of the students for the women of the village. Great success is being achieved. Thank you, Reality Learning SA, we appreciate you for caring and wanting to make a difference in our communities.”

Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders are 100% preventable.
